There’s nothing more adorable than great photos of kids. Unfortunately, getting them is a real challenge for most of us. Getting to know kids during a photoshoot can be challenging, especially if they are young. Here are 7 tips to help you get started.

1. Introduce Yourself to the Kids:

Before you start taking photos, get down to the kids’ level and introduce yourself.

2. Get Kids Done First:

Getting kids’ photos done early can be very helpful for everyone involved. It can also help them interact with other kids in the family.

If the schedule doesn’t allow it, ask for a designated child handler. This person will be able to take the kids away from the activity and allow them to be occupied.

3. Bring Props and Toys:

Not only will a child's favorite toys keep them busy while they wait for their turn to be photographed, they also make great additions to a photoshoot.

4. Ask Parents for Kids Interest and Hobbies Ahead of Time:

Knowing what they like will help you get to know them better, and it will make you more likely to cooperate with them in the future.

5. Don't Treat Kids Like Babies:

Make sure that their interactions are age appropriate. There's nothing more that a kid will turn off than being spoken to in a silly language.

6. Take Frequent Breaks:

The best way to avoid tantrums is to avoid them completely. Set age-appropriate expectations. It’s also important to know that kids will need to take breaks.

7. Give Compliments:

Compliment them when they smile and are kind to each other. They thrive on being complimented.
